Our ESG

Our ESG Commitment

At Worker Bee Tea & Coffee, we are committed to operating responsibly and sustainably through our Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) principles. These values shape every decision we make—from how we source our products to how we support our communities and manage our operations.

Environmental Responsibility

We are dedicated to reducing our environmental impact and continuously improving our sustainability practices. Our tea, coffee and chocolate are ethically sourced with a focus on minimising environmental harm and promoting long-term sustainability.

We carefully consider our packaging choices, opting for materials that are recyclable, compostable or have a lower overall carbon footprint. For example, our tea bags are made from plant-based materials and are fully biodegradable, while our packaging is designed to maintain product quality while reducing waste. We also use compostable cups and lids made in the UK to lower emissions associated with transport.

In addition, we have taken steps to reduce our direct carbon emissions, including transitioning to a 100% electric delivery van and achieving carbon-neutral status within our roastery. We continue to explore new ways to reduce our footprint and operate more efficiently as a business.

Social Impact

Supporting people is at the heart of our business—both locally and globally. We are proud to give back to our community through ongoing charitable contributions and partnerships with organisations that support those in need.

Since 2014, we have raised over £45,000 for charities including Maggie’s Cancer Care, Forever Manchester, The Christie Charity and We Love Manchester. These donations help fund vital services for individuals and communities, from healthcare support to grassroots local projects.

We also support the communities behind our products. By working closely with suppliers and farmers, we aim to ensure fair pay, ethical working conditions and long-term sustainability. Our involvement in projects such as funding water infrastructure in coffee-growing communities demonstrates our commitment to making a meaningful difference beyond our local area.

Governance and Ethical Practices

We are committed to operating with transparency, integrity and accountability across all areas of our business. We work with trusted, accredited suppliers who meet strict ethical, environmental and quality standards, ensuring full traceability of our products from origin to cup.

Our supply chain is carefully managed, with regular supplier checks, audits and compliance with recognised industry standards. We prioritise building long-term relationships with partners who align with our values and commitment to ethical sourcing.

We also maintain strict quality control processes, including product testing and traceability systems, to ensure consistency, safety and high standards across all of our products.
